Allow workflows to run while app is in background / screen is turned off

Currently workflow processes are halted if the app is sent to the background of the screen is turned off. Screen use is the biggest user of battery and battery life is one of the biggest limitation to field solutions. Being able to have workflows which are performing functions such as streaming line collection able to run while the screen is off would massively enhance data collection capability.
