Basemap metadata links
TerminéeSince Web 5.12 basemaps support metadata links. Does anyone have an example of this functionality (how do the hyperlinks look)? What is "properly configured" metadata? Is the info icon always visible, I don't think the visibility of these icons are configurable on the Basemap Picker component? https://docs.geocortex.com/webviewer/latest/admin-help/Default.htm#gwv/component-settings.htm#basemap-picker-settings
Basemaps now support linking to metadata. In the Basemap Picker component UI, each configured basemap now has an interactive info icon. Clicking this icon brings up a list of all layers contained in the basemap. When the layers have a properly configured Esri metadata configuration behind them, they are rendered as hyperlinks so you can directly access the configured metadata (opens in a new browser tab).

Hi Nico,
Here is an example where the first layer does not have metadata, and the second layer does, therefore a hyperlink is shown.

You'll be able to tell if a layer has properly configured metadata from your portal:
Here are instructions for creating and managing metadata in ArcGIS Pro: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-pro/data-management/create-and-manage-metadata-in-arcgis-pro/ Yes, the info icon will always be visible. Is there a reason you would like to hide it?
Hi Jonas,
We currently do not support adding more info in the info-box. What kind of information were you hoping to add?

Hi Nico Burgerhart,
Did you ever get this to work? I'm looking for a way to add information in the info-box.
Best,
Jonas

Hi @...,
Our customers have been wondering if it was possible to insert a description of the basemap within the information box.
The applications we deploy are mostly used by none-GIS professionals and the public. We therefore thought about the info-box as a good place to put in a short description and a link to our documentation website.
Even though the metadata-linkage is useful, I'm not sure how approachable it is for the public.
Through some creative manipulation of the app.json configuration, I've been able to partially accomplish this (see attached photos). It works for all the basemaps in the gallery, except for the one defined in the webmap.

Perhaps the baseMapLayers dictionary could include a "description" attribute, which could be shown in the info-box? Just a thought ;)
Best,
Jonas

Yes, the info icon will always be visible. Is there a reason you would like to hide it?
Because the basemaps we used had a limited amount of metadata so it gave no addditonal information.

Thanks both for the great feedback. I've added both "Hiding the info icon" and "Adding a custom description" as tickets to be discussed in our backlog.

Hi Nico and Jonas,
I'm happy to announce that both of your suggestions should be available for the 5.18 release of VertiGIS Studio Web in late June. In the picture below you can see that the Topographic basemap has the "Show Info Icon" property on while the Imagery basemap does not. The Topographic basemap also has a custom description.

Hi Conner,
That is great news! Thanks for helping us implement these features.
Cheers,
Jonas
