Add data by URL same as Web Appbuilder widget

Hi, is this capability available from Web Viewer. I can only see shapefile and csv and excel as an option from the web viewer add from file dialog.

  Hi Mark,

  Not currently. Thought you can also "Add Layer" which provides an Esri portal picker interface for adding layers that are in your portal. Many of the layers you are referencing above can be added to your portal, but we haven't yet provided you a direct way to add data via a URL. Specific to OGC layers, it is unlikely we will provide a way to add them directly ... we are using the Esri platform as a 'first filter' to ensure the validity/compliance of the OGC layer, and can then add them from the portal item. [as you may be aware there are a LOT of possible variations to OGC layers]. I could see us allowing adding ArcGIS Server Web Services directly at some point, for now, just add them first to your Esri portal as a portal item.

  This functionality exists in Geocortex Essentials, but not yet in VertiGIS Studio Web.

  We have some customers who are really looking for this functionality in VertiGIS Studio Web, since adding all possible external services to ArcGIS Enterprise that users might need is not flexible and not preferable...

  Is it still unlikely that there will not be a way to directly add layers from URL? It is something a lot of our customers are asking for. 

  I am aware that it is possible through the portal. But there are multiple issues with this: Firstly, it is not as smooth and some users will end up spending quite a lot of time first adding it to the portal and making sure it has been archived correctly if they in reality just needed a quick view once on some data from an OGC service. Secondly, if you have pre-configured the tags from which the users can add layers from the portal, it would be even more configuration to make sure that the new data which might only be something one user needs have the right tag.
