Hey folks - we recently added a new SDK sample that you can drop your own icons into for use.

This gets us closer to what you are asking for.

Instead of saying "Yes you can do that, go use the SDK" ... we now have a small working example that you can put your own icons into.

In the future we will provide a simpler way to get your own icons into your app.

We had a possible approach, but base64 encoded images are no longer considered 'safe' in a security context.

In the meantime, if there is something specific you are looking for that seems to be missing, we can probably add it for you for the next release.

Chiming in to say that we are making a big push to use workflow and reporting to streamline our permitting processes.  Finding it difficult to be creative enough to avoid using the form icon over and over.  At the risk of being too locally-specific, the types of things we permit including the following:

Alcohol and marijuana establishments, new construction, floodplain construction, road or driveway construction, vegetation removal, utility easements, habitat preservation, land subdivisions, general land use, leases.

Any sort of variety on something that looks like a permit or permit development process would be great.  Thanks.

We too would be interested in being able to upload more icons. We could easily do this in the GVH5, and would love to be able to do this in VSW please. We have fairly specific icons around fire, and emergency management, and would not expect any software vendor to cater for this either

    cheers

  • We  would appreciate that as well. We use a loto of custom icons for our customers, ad they already have legacy symbols that they want to use for their toolbars

Hi Cam, any update on this? Cam Barnard. Will it be available soon?

Cam Barnard any update on this being built into Web? I don't understand how to use the sample. We have a lot of different custom workflows we want to be able to differentiate between with organization-unique icons.

Even a short video tutorial how to use the sdk for register icons would be great.

agree - but would be nice if we didn't have to do this sort of thing though.

Please also allow us to use images on buttons. My users can't figure out what the basemap icon means even if I label it too. I would love to be able to put a photo of aerial imagery on a button to open the basemaps panel like I could in the old HTML5 viewer or like Google Maps shows so it's more intuitive for end users to click on it.

Since the last official comment roughly two years ago, is there any news on this topic? Would be much appreciated.

Maybe we need to add this to the Ideas section if it isn't already.  It might get some more traction in there perhaps.
