Essential fails to launch and ends up with Runtime Error
Seeking advice from the community on how to bring essential back up and running while waiting for Support to assist.
The last time I was able to access the site was before the weekend on late Friday afternoon.
No update or patch has been applied to the server over the weekend
Since this morning, the server has been rebooted a couple times. Geocortex Core service has been restarted several times. IIS is running just fine because I can see IIS logo
When getting to http://myserver/Html5viewer/index.html, I see my splash image but no site
I followed this article and deleted transient files but did not help.

My last resort is to rename the Geocortex Core folder and uninstall/reinstall the software, which btw, I have never done before. Before I take such drastic step, I am reaching out to the user community for pointers. Thanks

Support assisted with this.
Support recommends stopping Core prior to any server reboot or OS update. However, the bug can be triggered by various things. And, for my case, I rebooted my ArcGIS server which sits on different box.
Steps we take are
- Stop Core under Service
- delete the transient files
- Delete the log folder under Data directory.
- Start Core
- Review the log or console files using notepad or Code
- Stop Core
- in my case, we went to the DocumentStore/../InstanceName/..Indices and delete default.instant.search (this was not part of transient file to delete)
- close the notepad that we used to review DocumentStore.console
- Start Core
- logs files starts populating again
- The Core services under Task Manager/Details comes back too
