Upcoming change in Studio Workflow 5.45 that could affect older Studio Mobile applications

Who may be affected?

• You are running a Studio Mobile application of version 5.30 or older
• AND you update a Workflow inside this Mobile application
• AND that update is made using Studio Workflow Designer 5.45 (May 2025) or later

What is the change?

Workflow uses ECMAScript (ES) as part of storing expressions for evaluation at runtime. The updated version of ES uses newer technologies that ultimately result in a different transpiled result between TypeScript and JavaScript.

Workflow currently uses an ES version dating back to 2009. Workflow 5.45 will use an ES version from 2020.

This necessary technology update is transparent in all cases EXCEPT in the scenario above where older Mobile applications would evaluate the transpiled expression incorrectly if those expressions are created in version of Workflow Designer 5.45 or later.

How do you avoid the problem?

• The best solution is to update your Mobile app to version 5.32 or later.
• The alternate solution is to edit workflows for older Mobile apps on versions of Workflow prior to 5.45 (e.g. to install and use a Workflow version earlier than 5.45 if you need to edit a workflow in an older Mobile application).
