Is there a link between an SDE database compress and AGS services used in VS Web?
This might be a question to ESRI or a combination of both.
Once a week we run a database compress in our SDE environment. Sometime thereafter, some of the AGS services used in several VS Web solutions report errors when trying to run an identify or search. The console logs report the problematic service(s), and we manually restart them. After that the problem goes away.
We have examined the AGS service(s), underlying layers, etc. and have not found anything odd (yet).
Has anyone else ran into this? If so, what did you do?

Hi Mike
According to Esri's documentation, this process should not alter the data schema, structure, or the way ArcGIS REST endpoints respond. However, during the compress operation, active database connections—including those used by ArcGIS Server services—may be temporarily interrupted. This can lead to temporary service disruptions or errors in REST endpoints until connections are re-established.
To mitigate potential issues, Esri recommends scheduling compress operations during off-peak hours and considering a restart of ArcGIS Server services post-compress to ensure stable connections.
I would suggest as part of your typical compress process that you schedule a restart of all affected ArcGIS services after the compress is complete.0
