Geocortex Essentials Print Template Scale Bar

On printing a map zoomed in at a certain scale, say 1:24000 and larger, can the scale bar show divisions in “feet” and division in “miles” when zoomed out to a smaller scale?  The Essentials Manager will allow the setting of the scale bar units, but this is not dynamically modifiable, and we only want one scale bar on our map.  Assuming there is a way to script this in the print template that will override the default settings, but I haven't discovered anything on the Geocortex community site.
