Run Print Activity with new Print Engine?

Does the “Run Print” activity only work with the old printing method? How to we print with Pro layout items and the new print engine via Workflow?

    I had the same question. 

    However, the guidance Printing Help - Run Prints from VertiGIS Studio Workflows (vertigisstudio.com) also seems to indicate that it only works with web app builder and Geocortex Essentials:

    3. In a Host Application: Configure the application to host the workflow.

    1. See Run Workflows in ArcGIS Web AppBuilder or Run Workflows in the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5.

    I ended up just opening the print panel via the workflow for the end user to print it themselves

    Currently, the Run Print activity does not work with the new Studio Print Engine but there is a user story in with development to add functionality. I don't have an ETA on when support will be added to Workflow at this time.

    Hi Paul,

    You should be able to use the Run Print Activity with a Print Engine Layout as of Studio Web 5.34.2, Studio Workflow 5.43.x, and the Print Engine 5.26.1. You will need to put your Print Engine service URL into the Studio Web Print Service and then link to the layout item in AGOL/Portal through your Workflow Run Print Activity.

    Thanks Mike Ketler.   I'm using ArcGIS Experience builder and I'm not sure where to specify the new Web Print Service.   Do you know how I can set this setting in ExB and/or workflow?

    I'm also having an issue with this. The Run Print activity does allow me to print my layout, but does not seem to pass the parameters (Map Title, etc.) on. This workflow worked perfectly with the old method, and I am passing valid parameters (checked with the log).

    There is an enhancement included in Workflow 5.46 that is scheduled for release on July 14. It will include support for parameters and overview map in the new gen2 printing via the Run Print activity.

    Note that as always this is not immediately present in VertiGIS Studio Web. Workflow 5.46 will be included in a future release.
