Layer Action for a Single Layer
Hi VertiGIS Team,
I would like to be able to add a layer action that only applies to one or more particular layers in the layer list and not all of them.
There is already a similar request made 2 years ago here https://support.vertigis.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/11497644914706/comments/11497618141842 outside of the ideas section.
Our scenario is that I want users to be able to add a new bin location on the map (ie a brand new feature). I can add that as a layer action, however I don't want it against all the layers in the list as there is a workflow process used to create new features for 2 of the layers and for the other remaining layers, users can never create new features but only modify features. I can't disable editing on the remaining layers either as users need to be able to still edit the features, just not create new ones via the layer action.
My only option at present is to add a command to a button or the context menu (which I have implemented as a work around) that allows a user to add a new bin and not ‘add’ to any other layer.

Hi Belinda,
this has been possible for some time now. You can go to the layer where you want to set up a feature action and you will find a feature action panel where a feature action can be added and configured.
Here is an example of the Capital City app where you can find a feature action on the hydrant layer to be able to move the hydrant.

As you can see from the activity on the other post, its not possible what I'm referring to. You are talking about a feature action for when a feature already exists. I am talking about a layer action for a defined layer only.

Ouh Sorry, I just missunderstand the post. At present, we do not have the capability to restrict layer actions to a specific layer but we have noted this concern in our development area, under the entry 180921: "[Layer List] Only run actions on certain layers".
We hope to get the functionality soon. Thank you for your patience.

Opened a support ticket for this (#93997) but I see it's not yet available, just want to agree that layer hyperlinks would be super helpful for the transition to web from essentials. I know we could probably figure out a way custom but out of the box would be great!
