Breaking changes coming in VertiGIS Studio Web 5.27
This was part of Web 5.26 release notes, ensuring it is also visible here.
VertiGIS Studio Web (VSW) 5.27 is scheduled for release on December 13, 2023.
This release introduces two changes classified as ‘breaking’.
VSW 5.27 will use the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.28 (formerly known as the Esri ArcGIS API for JavaScript 4.x or Esri’s JavaScript API 4.x).
- This version removes the watchUtils pattern. The watchUtils pattern was deprecated in VSW 5.21 as part of Esri’s ArcGIS JavaScript 4.24 API and has been logging console warnings since that date.
- It is likely that previously written custom components for VSW are using watchUtils in some capacity. You will need to update those components prior to VSW 5.27 or they will cease working. For replacement patterns and additional information see Esri’s announcement.
REVISED - Several customers requested the ability to suppress the loading of related records for layers where the information is time consuming to load and not of value to the end user. The Esri webmap specification supports this type of configuration.
- Today if no related record configuration is present in the webmap, VSW will show all related records.
- Beginning in 5.27, VSW will always respect the configuration within the webmap when present.
- In cases where your webmap contains no related record configuration today and shows all related records in VSW, your 5.27 app will continue to display those related records. An additional override setting will be provided allowing to to disable showing related records when nothing is configured in the webmap.

After a thorough review of Esri's ecosystem we've extended our solution for 5.27 in such a way that if you do nothing, there will be no difference in behavior. See revised text above.

Re the ability to disable the display of related records:
Will disabling the display of related records for an editable feature layer also disable the controls in VSW / VSM to add a new related record to features of that layer?

Our organization is using ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1. As far as I know, the map viewer of 11.1 doesn't support related records (only map viewer classic does). How do the changes for VSW 5.27 impact the possibility of using the new map viewer to create maps with related records for VSW?
