Those are the ADF logs.  You will want to check the REST logs:   C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\REST Elements\REST\App_Data\Logs     I also recommend installing Essentials 3.0 (If that is an option) and using the Geocortex Essentials REST Manager to create REST sites.  It is over 27 times easier.

    27?  Not 28?

Any yes did end up installing 3.0 and worked fine out of the box on 2008 64 machine.

Are there any test cases regarding installation of GeoCortex Essentials on VM Ware?

I seem to have problems on the Post Install and was wonder if anyone has any suggestions?

    Operating System: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621)

    System Manufacturer: VMware, Inc.

    System Model: VMware Virtual Platform

    Memory: 4096MB RAM

( I have ASPNET .Net 4 Framework, enabling 32bit apps, but perhaps something is missing in the IIS config?, ArcGIS Server is not installed locally..)

Post Install returns this error right away..

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hi Michelle, It looks like the Post Installer is unhappy with the site bindings it's finding. Can you fire up your IIS Manager, select your web site from the tree view, and click on "Bindings..." in the Actions pane, and show me what your bindings look like?   Thanks!   Jordan

    Hi Jordan,

Thanks for this - I think I have resolved the issue..

I checked the existing bindings on the sites that were defined in IIS and none had references to port 80.

I had one site with a binding to port 21 and one to port 443, but none to port 80.

Once I create a site with binding to port 80 the post install worked..

    Thanks again, Michelle

I'm glad it's working for you now. I've successfully reproduced the error, here, too, and brought it to the attention of our installer team (GE-1016). We'll be addressing the issue in an upcoming release, and in the meantime, we'll know to advise users to ensure they have the expected bindings.   Thanks for your help, Jordan
