Look and Feel of SL Viewer

Why do we have to use a png for the Left and Right Image Url?  Same for splash screen.  It would be nice if there was a simple way of just typing in what you would like these to say, along with font format (size,color,etc) controls.

Also, even better is it could be customizable by user login, same as layers.
