Geocortex Map Service Connection failed
Hello,
We have a map service from our ArcGIS server 10. We can preview the map service on ArcCatalog, also in through REST url.
But when try to add it to Geocortext Essential 3.8 (Windows 2003), which is set up on the same machine as the ArcGIS server, we go the following error message. Interestedly, if I hit Test Connection button several times at bottom of the message dialog box, it turns successful sometime, but when hit OK the same error message came out again. Any suggestions?. Thank you very much!
"The connection to map service "SILCAR/Master2" (ID: "0") from the Main Map failed.
The connection settings may be invalid or the map service may be temporarily unavailable.
You must either remove the map service configuration from the site or modify the connection settings to correct the error."

Jason,
First thing I always check is the rest endpoints from the browser
http://yourserver/arcgis/rest/service and check you can see the map service using the ArcGIS Javascript viewer.
I'm guessing you will get an "inaccessible error"

Hi Kenneth, I did check the REST services endoints and the map service listed allright, I can even query through the REST API URL.
However the "inaccessible error" message did occurred after I tried to add the map services to Geocortex. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked the geocortex logs (although i suspect they wll provide little more detail than the error messages you are recieving).
The only thing i can suggest is to ensure your environment is in a clean / known state: I would bounce the SOM, bounce IIS & even to the extent of bouncing the geocortex agent. If problem is still persisting, i would recreate the service (or another service) & see if problem is replicated. I would also be tempted to create a new site (even if just for testing purposes (it might even pay to do this as the first activity to my suggestions above)) & see if problem is replicated.
I also run a similar setup with secured services. I do not that the connection details will often drop out (a feature of geocortex?) upon which i can either re-enter the secured connection details (password) or close site & re-open (the problem often does not persist).
Regards
Brad

Jason,
Make sure all your data sources are accessible by the map service including any JOINS and/or RELATED tables.
The data source table of contents in ARCMAP DOES NOT show the data sources of JOINS or RELATED tables in your MXD.

We recently upgraded servers and are experiencing the same issue. Geocortex won't connect to the URL, but I can see the rest endpoints.
Any ideas of what I need to do to get the connection to be successful?
