Folder other than wwwroot
Hello..
We usually have our webservers setup so that the main web site files are stored in a location other than c:\inetpub. We then create new, separate sites within IIS and not use the "Default Website" entry.
With that said, is there documentation or something else describing the steps of creating the proper folder/app settings so that we can create a Geocortex folder within a site entry other than the "Default Website"?
For e.g. We have a website named "New Website", it's files are stored on the E:\Websites\New Website folder and it's binding is http://www.newwebsite.com. If we visit "http://www.newwebsite.com/Geocortex/Essentials/GE/REST..." Geocortex comes up.
With that being said too, if we recreate these virtual directories and things, do we need to to have Geocortex/Essentials/GE/Rest configured? Can't we just create a virtual directory to REST and remove Geocortex/Essentials/GE?

Hi Jeff,
The simplest thing to do is to use the Essentials Post Install to specify which web site and virtual directory to use. This will reduce the amount of extra setup and permissions you would need to configure.
The post installer uses a junction point on the filesystem to make the Essentials web content "appear" in the right folder in the web site. I believe it will also remove any existing junctions, under the assumption that each named instance of Essentials only would live in one website. We do not recommend that you configure one instance of Essentials to have multiple homes since its stateless nature makes it very difficult to determine at run-time which home would work for a given request.
