data link to a dbf file doesn't list columns in the dialogue = no results
Hi there.
I have an odbc System DSN defined that uses the ms dbase driver to point to a directory with some dbf files in it. It's all default settings, with the exception of selecting the specific directory that the dbf files are in.
I've added a Data Connection to my Essentials site, using the DSN as my connection string (e.g. "Dsn=CleanWaterPolicyTable").
I'm now trying to add a Data Link to one of the layers in the map service that I'm using. In the dialogue box from the "Create Data Link Wizard", I'm able to select the data table from the drop-down list. However, no columns are listed in the "Select" part of the dialogue.
This seems to result in a successful data link (with a tab in the identify results, etc.), but with no results actually shown (presumably because I haven't told it which columns to display).
I've placed other dbf files into that directory to test, and if I choose them during the Data Link process, I have a list of columns to select from.
Any suggestions as to why I can't see a list of columns to choose from?
ArcGIS Server 10.0, Essentials 3.8, ...
Thanks,

Chris,
I've seen issues with ODBC connections to DBF files which have a file name containing more than 10 characters (for some odd reason). If you copy the DBF and rename it to something short, does it work?

HI John.
You win!
The other files that I'd put in the directory to test all had 12-character-long names. The file I wanted to use had a 14-character-long name.
I renamed it with a 6-character name, and now I have columns to choose from.
Oh, the delights of dbf...
Thanks for the quick help!

Oops, I meant that the other files I used for testing had 8-character-long names. Don't want to put out incorrect info...
Thanks,
