Extract Markup tool that works as well as WebADF Extract Markup

I've spend some time working with the "Extract Markup to Shapefile" sample in the Code Gallery.  It works, but it doesn't come close enough to duplicating the functionality of the Extract Markup tool in WebADF to be useful to us.

What I'd like to see is an Extract Markup tool that duplicates the WebADF version, and is configurable in the Rest Manager.  I mentioned in an older thread that the lack of a similar Extract Markup tool is preventing me from migrating some sites from WebADF to REST API.
