Alternative to Global Search?

Hi,

The Global Search facility in the Silverlight Viewer is only configurable in the REST Manager or I guess in the XAML. You can choose whether to include layers in the search or not. But our users want to be able to do this for themselves and have the ability to search on just any one particular layer at any given time.

Is there a simple way to do this?

  Hi Steve, 

  There isn't a way to let end users configure which layers to be included in the global search. However, once the search completes, you can select 'Refine Results' at the top of the results list and choose which layers to display the search results for.

  Steve,

  Another way to provide your desired functionality is to create a workflow that provides a search form, which only searches on the one target layer and field.  This workflow can be added to the i want to menu, or to the toolbar as a button.  There are example searches available in the Charlotte example sites and workflows completed against our sample server in the Sample Sites folder.
