Is it possible to use Manager's "Site security" to restrict access to a specific function to a specific Role?

I saw only Allow and Deny permissions, can we define other roles like EditingEnabledRole and somehow configure the Site to allow only users with that role to run an Editing workflow for example?

Otherwise, what are the alternatives apart from creating a separate Site for each Role?

Should a workflow secure itself? Does a workflow know the current user and its roles? If so, is it possible through an Activity that can be used in the Workflow Designer or through custom code?

  Hi Omar,

  I don't believe there is a function to restrict use of workflows etc. on a particular site based on the user or role. I think there has been some conversations around here about this already but I don't know if the feature is planned to be brought in for the future. Maybe a tech support guy can give us some more insight?

  You might work around it by adding a verification of the role inside the workflow itself.
