This should show up as soon as the map pans or calls back to the service. Are you sure you are not editing a version of your database that is not displayed. I am not sure what your DB environment is but if you are using versioning you would need to post and reconcile to see edits if you are not editing the versioned data displayed on your site.

That was my logic as well, I've been making edits to an internal editing database and then would reconcile and post to the default database assuming I would see updates to the geoviewer, but no. Thus why I am here, it seems or at least feels like I'm missing a step in the posting process.

    Matt,

I set-up a one-way replica from my SDE database to a file geodatabase on the ArcGIS Server machine, which is used in a cached service.  So, my update procedure is reconcile and post, then update the replica, and finally re-cache.

    Just a thought.

So are your edits flowing from your feature service going to your SDE layer I assume. Personally I just use create  version in SDE which allows me to just run a post and reconcile with out having to create replicas. I also prefer a versioning approach instead of replicas because I can QC the data much better by comparing the editor version to my default before I post updates.  Also if you are using a cached service to display your edits yes you would need recache to see any thing on the viewer.

Does your feature service use the same database connection and is pointing to correct version? Also do your layers  contain vertical projection (z values).

    Nick,

I have edit and default versions in SDE, the same as Matt.  I do QC in SDE before updating the replica, and re-caching.  We had too many other databases on the same SQL Server as SDE when I first setup my site in 9.3.1, and at the time ESRI recommended file geodatabases as the fastest data source,  I am not sure if that still holds.

I just thought my setup might help Matt figure out his problem.

I don't personally think there is anything wrong with that configuration. Its really a different approach that does the same thing. I just prefer not to use file based geodatabases for server editing because most of my feature services are mobile enabled services as well which are only supported by ArcSDE geodatabases. I
