Minimum and Maximum Resolution Settings

We managed to do this by creating 'fake' zoom levels for the first basemap in the layer list. I call them 'fake' because we specified them as levels in the Service Properties (in ArcCatalog), but never created the cached images.

Has anyone found a solution to this one, without having to adjust the map service properties with "fake" zoom levels? We have two base maps in a site; -the first one a tiled map service covering zoom levels from 1:5000 to 1:Infinity. The other one a dynamic map service used from 1:1 to 1:5000.

In the silverlight viewer this works fine. We have adjusted the resolution settings in the viewer config, as well as setting the "Override Minimum/Maximum Scale" for each service in the site config. The viewer automatically toggles the visibility of the two basemaps when the "border scale" (1:5000) is crossed.

However, this does not work in the html5 viewer. Both map services are visible at all times, and the maximum zoom level is limited by the maximum zoom level of the tiled map service.

We are looking for a way to solve this.

We are running Geocortex Essentials 4.1.1, Silverlight Viewer 2.2 and HTML5 VIewer 2.0.

    Hi, Martin,

Do you manage to find the way to do that? I also have a need to limit the zoom level to country instead of world. I couldn't found anything so far.

    Thanks in advance.

+1 - Latitude, could we please have the Override Min/Max scales, set at the site level, be honoured in the HTML5 viewer, as they are in the Silverlight viewer. The documentation (GE 4.2.0), as far as I can see, doesn't mention this functionality is limited to only the Silverlight Viewer.  Being able to set the Min/Max resolution at the application level, like users can within the map module in the Silverlight viewer, is also a necessity for a lot of users. There are a few threads that mention this issue or related issues - (https://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?thread=55618&mid=2&pageid=0&ItemID=9&pagenumber=1#post160506) here , (https://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?pageid=0&mid=2&ItemID=9&thread=55581) here , (https://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?pageid=0&mid=2&ItemID=2&thread=55844) here  and (https://support.geocortex.com/SupportForums/Thread.aspx?pageid=0&mid=2&ItemID=2&thread=55691) here

I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon, but +1 for me too please.  This little undocumented glitch has cost me 2 days of development, trying to find a workaround or to test for when the viewer behaves as suggested and when it doesn't.  Thanks to the poster above for the suggestion of the 'fake' levels, this seems a reasonable workaround, however it is a workaround at best.

FYI, this is a previously reported issue and the issue number is GVH-4182.  Unfortunately the fix will not be implemented in the new 2.4 version of the HTML5 viewer.  At this point we do not have an estimate as to when it will be implemented but this issue is listed as a priority item.

Please watch the release notes of future HTML5 viewers for mention of GVH-4182.

    Alejandro,

I'm not having much luck with the maximum resolution settings with the new GVH v2.4.

I have a basemap that stops displaying at 1:5000, while my primary map service allows zooming into a very small scale.

The basemap is now not allowing me to zoom in to smaller scales.

    Walter,

Did you follow the instructions on section 13.7 Configure the Map of the HTML5 Admin and Developer Guide?

    Alejandro,

I was attempting to apply the suggestions from the Admin guide to the min/max settings under the site's map min/max values and not the min/max settings for the map under the viewer.

    Thanks for your reply.

a trick we use is to publish a non-cached version of the cahed service, but put scale dependancies in the mxd to allow large scales but stop at the level the cached service starts.  at large scales, smaller amounts of data are being asked for so the speed is still good.

You can set this at the service level in ArcGIS Server Manager under caching - there are min and max scale settings...
