Map Tips Enable on Global Search

I am having a similar problem, but I have enabled map tips and chose to have them appear on a "click" as well as a "hover".  When in the Silverlight 1.9 Viewer, the Map Tips is checked on by default and when I click on the feature of interest, the map tip appears.  If I choose a different tool (like pan, zoom, ID, etc) and then go back to "clicking" on or "hovering" over a feature, the map tip will not appear.  On the "Maps and Data Tab", the Map Tips is still checked and the layer associated with map tips is still checked, but I have to "uncheck" and then "recheck" the map tips to have the map tips functionality re-appear.

I, too am wondering if this is a bug or if I am missing something.  I am concerned my end-users will become frustrated with this functionality.

Any insight or resources would be appreciated.

    Hi Bill and Nathan,

A couple of issues related to map tips have been fixed for the GVS 1.10 release.

Bill: We weren't able to exactly reproduce the issue you described. We did see that when map tips were disabled (unchecked on the Maps & Data Sources tab) and you performed a global search, map tips would become enabled even though the option remained unchecked on the toolbar. This issue has been fixed. We could not reproduce the issue you described where you would see map tips for layers that had 'Show Map Tips = False'. Perhaps you could double-check your layer configuration and confirm?

Nathan: There was an issue where map tips would become disabled after you used two tools from the toolbar consecutively. For example, if you have map tips enabled, used the zoom in tool and then the zoom out tool without clicking on the map in between, map tips would become disabled. However, if you have map tips enabled and use a single tool, then click on the map, you would still get a map tip. I believe this is the issue you were seeing and it has been fixed for the 1.10 release.

    Cheers,

    -Darren
