Passing External Query Into Global Search

I am able to send a query string from an external application into my application site, find and select a feature and zoom the map to the selection. The identify results for the selected feature will appear in the results pane.

To do this, the query has to include the site path, a specific layer to be queried, the specific field to be queried and the attribute value to find. (e.g. http://servername/SilverlightViewer/Viewer=SiteName=LayerName,FieldName,Value) This limits the search to only one specific layer.

How can I send the query string into the Global Search function within the site? This would allow me to search all layers in the site included in the global search configuration. I appreciate any help.
