Security: how to enable\disable tabs for particular users,

I couldn’t figure out how tabs can be enabled\disabled for particular users. For example, I have added a tab for editing and wanted this tab to be enabled for particular users. How this can be accomplished?

  Toolbars are enabled in the Viewer instead of the Site, and as such I don't think you can set security on them.

  Thanks John,

  Then how one can grant particular users editing permissions on a particular layer (via web) while disabling it for others? I still need viewers (and of course editors) to be able to “see” the layer. Regular users can see it but unable to edit. Editors can see it and can perform editing.

  Is that possible?

  Option 1) You could include a map service for viewers and a feature service for editors. Then you could set the security on your site so that people can view one or the other depending on whether they're going to being editing content vs. just viewing it.

  Option 2) You could build an editing workflow and only give certain people access to use it.
