“enable editor tracking” when editing via web,
“enable editor tracking” when editing via web,
I’m wondering if there is a way to “record” user name of the Geocortex (that has editing permission) in the field “last_edited_user”
Currently, when edits are done via the Geocortex user, the value of the “last_edited_user” field is filled as “ESRI_Anonymous”.
What workaround is still available?
Thank you

I got an advice from an expert.
To achieve this, the enterprise geodatabase must contain versions equal to the number of expected editors. These versions (desired layers) are published as services. Each Gecortex editors is granted a permission to edit his service. In this case, the name of of each editor is registered on the tracking field.

Jamal,
I'm trying to achieve the same functionality but I'm not clear on the solution your are mentioning above.
I played with different combination of permissions, Windows Integrated and Geocortex Identity, but still get "Esri_Anonymous" user recorded in the geodatabase.
So if there are 10 users, I'll need to create 10 same services but with different names so users can select their layer.
Is this a correct assumption?
Maybe I'm wrong but I can see where it can become very messy. Say there are 3 editable layers and 10 users.
If I have to create a service for each user to be identified, there are 30 services that need to be created.

I think that is your only option if you need to use ESRI's editor tracking fields. Otherwise you can edit through a workflow and capture the viewer's current user to update a non-ESRI editor tracking field. 0 -
We perform the vast majority of editing through Workflows because of this issue. We find that Workflows provide much more control on the attribute fields than free form editing, such as performing validation checks, pre-populating data, and maintaining tracking fields. The drawback is the limited geometry editing capabilities using a workflow. We are hoping with the next version of Workflow will provide more flexibility in geometry editing. 0 -
Unfortunately my workflow knowledge is not good enough at this point do to it in workflow and I was hoping Essentials integrate with ArcGIS Editor Tracking feature.
It would be nice if Geocortex support would weigh in and tell us if Essentials can work with ArcGIS Editor Tracking at all.0 -
Hi,
This question has been asked before so this thread here (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?sub-nav=forum&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&id=90660000000XbD9AAK) might help.
To get the username populated in the tracking table, here is a description of the set up that you need:
To get Editor Tracking to work, you need to use Web Tier Security on the ArcGIS Server (using Windows Security). It will not work with Token Security or anonymous. This is all you need to do if you are not using layer-level security.
If you are using layer level security, then you need to enable Impersonation in Essentials Manager so that it can pass the appropriate credentials back to the ArcGIS Server. For more information on Impersonation, you can consult the Geocortex Essentials Admin Guide under section 32.2. This will only work with Windows Integrated Security on the Geocortex Essentials side.
I hope this helps.

Carmen0
