How to have map tips and global search enabled by default for layers?

When I add a map service, inlcude in global search and map tips are unchecked. Problem is, I have lots of layers and it takes forever to check these all on. And sometimes I may have to replace teh service if too many changes happen and then have to do this all over again.

Is there no way to have these settings checked by default?

  Not that I know of, but you could set them all to Searchable="true" by editing the Site.xml in a text editor. I use a Replace All command often when I need to change the settings on all layers in a service (or multiple services).
