Print Operation could not complete sucessfully

I received a report of the "The print operation could not complete sucessfully. Please contract your system administrator for assistance" error message a couple months ago from a user.  The site in question has two templates, one continued to work, the other stopped working.  I don't recall if the log message was exactly the same, but it was similar.

Anyway, I renamed the "bad" template and created a new one based on the one that worked, and things were fine again.

To satisfy my curiosity, I re-added the old, renamed template back to the site.  It also worked properly again.  Site cache problem, maybe?  Not sure.  I've since upgraded to 3.15.1 and it hasn't happened again.

If this does happen again I am going to try removing and recreating the print template configuration in REST Manager.

No dice. I removed the print templates, renamed, etc. The problem is occurring for all our print templates in all our viewer applications on that server (many different templates).

I was able to replicate the problem going directly against the GE Rest interface of print template. The URL below is an example but it won't work for others because the server is within our intranet. However, this tells me that the problem is somewhere outside of the Silverlight Viewer and likely something on the server.

Googling the error code 0x88982F8A indicates that "The component registration is invalid." Is there a way to figure out what "component" the error is referring to... how it's registered, ...and how to test for its invalidness. Overall, does anybody have any advice on how to debug not very descriptive error logs, like this one?

    Hi Mike,

You might want to try setting the system log level to DEBUG to get full details of what is going on. Please refer to section "36.2 Edit the Log Levels" of Geocortex Essentials Admin Guide.

    Hope this helps,
