Short Dates

Hello,

I have a map tip that is pulling DateTime data as one of the fields and it displays the full date in the map tip and search results such as Tuesday, January 28, 2014 4:00:00 PM. Is there any way to apply formatting to this so it can show a shorter date such as 1/28/2014? I remember when I worked with the Flex viewer it had an option to do this.
