Use features already selected in the map

I'd like to write a workflow that uses features that the user has already selected in the map using the interactive selection tools in the Silverlight Viewer.

Is it possible to do this? The workflow knows the Layer ID and the REST endpoint of the particular map layer that we're interested in. I'd like the workflow to work with only those features that the user has selected.

This is typically how a Report works: it uses the features that the user has selected in the map and reports on them, but instead of writing a Report in Report Designer I'm writing a Workflow in Workflow Designer.

So for example, the user would select some property parcel polygons in the map using the 'Add to selected' command or by clicking the gold star beside each of those properties they're interested in. They would then run my workflow, which would use those selected properties as its input.
