Editing a feature service
Hi all,
We're new to HTML5. We want to set up a site where users can edit only the attributes of existing features in a point feature class (not add new points, edit geometry or delete points). The features live in an unversioned SDE-database, and have been published as a features server layer.
I can see no way to edit the attributes of an existing feature in the point feature class. I suspect I am not seeing all the tools I should be seeing. Can someone confirm that there is only one tool in the "Edit Features" group of the Available Tools? All I have there is "Create New Feature". (I go to Viewers -> Edit -> Toolbar -> and look at the Available Tools) I am using the Viewer for HTML5 2.2. ...I wish the Developer's guide had more screen shots.

If you identify a feature layer and click on the search result, one of the options should be Edit Feature (the others are Zoom to Feature and Pan).
As far as controlling what users are able to edit, make sure your feature service properties in AGS are set to allow only Query and Updates.

Hi,
Editing a feature in Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 (GVH) is a little different to Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight (GVS). Instead of the Edit Attribute or Edit Geometry tools seen in GVS, you'd use the Identify tool and select which feature to edit.
To edit a feature:
- In GVH , click Identify .
- Select the area of the map where your feature is located.
- Click the feature you want to edit in the search results.
- Click Edit Feature .
- If you want, modify any available attributes.
- If you want, click Edit Geometry to edit the feature's geometry.
- Click Save .
At present, there is no way to hide the Edit Geometry button altogether (this is likely to be available in future versions). However, you can disable different types of geometry editing for a feature layer, effectively achieving the same thing.
To disable geometry editing of a feature layer:
- In Essentials Manager , edit your site.
- On the Map page, click the Edit Map Service icon /customer/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?file=00P6000000em1LiEAI beside the feature layer on which you want to disable geometry editing.
- Click the Functional tab.
- Uncheck the following checkboxes:
- Edit Vertices Enabled
- Move Enabled
- Rotate Enabled
- Scale Enabled
- Click Apply Settings .
- Click Save Site .
Hope that helps!
