How to reference features in the Results pane from a workflow?

Hello all.  Is it possible for a workflow to grab the features that are shown in the Results pane (from an identify), and manipulate them (buffer, report etc)?  These features are NOT selected, just results.  The SIlverlight Viewer can run reports on results (at least from the table view).  I'm hoping there is a way of doing something similar from a workflow.
