Should I disable standardized queries in AGS?

Hi everyone.  I've just installed AGS 10.2.2 (from 10.1), and noticed some weird behavior with many of my workflows.  I traced the problems to queries, and finally figured it's due to AGS 10.2 implementing standardized queries.  I've found that this breaks a lot of my workflows (in particular it appears that fully qualified field names - at least with layers that have joins - no longer work).

My question - is implementing standardized queries that important?  Disabling it would be sooo much easier, but I don't fully understand the security implications.  Any thoughts?
