Layer Icon URI

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the symbol from the legend to show up as the Layer Icon? I capture the URL of the symbol and use it in my Home panel but I am wondering if there is a pay to capture it based on an attribute, say STATUS, as the features are classified.

Any thoughts apprciated.

  I think I remember asking the same thing about 3 years ago. I don't think it's high on their priority list :(

  It would be nice though! even now, and with the HTML5 viewer which they seem to be spending a lot more time on enhancing.

  That's a great idea I'm so tired of tracking down special icons for my layers would be nice if the default came from the legend.
