Hi Allen - were you able to get this problem resolved?  I'm experiencing the same thing using GE 4.1.4 and ArcGIS Server 10.2.2.

    Hi Kari -

I haven't been able to figure this out on my own - still working on it though.  I opened a ticket w/ Latitude and am waiting to talk with them.  I'll update this thread when I know more.

OK with the help of Latitude support I have figure this out.

Assuming you have security set up on your map service, when you set up your service connection in GE Manager, select 'token based security' but leave the token url blank.  Enter credentials for the connection that have access to the secured map service, and you should be able to make the service visible in the map but keep it hidden on the rest services page so that external folks cannot access it.

Could one pass through windows security authentication to the secured rest services?

Sure, with the right credentials - that's an ArcServer thing.  For example because I know the account/s that are allowed to see the service, I can log in to the rest services page with those credentials, and see the service listed.  Again, this depends somewhat on your ArcServer set up.

One more related issue here -

I am able to add a secured service as mentioned above with no problems.  Things get a little more funky when I apply ArcServer security to a service that is already in a site.  I have not been able to view a map correctly in this scenario.  Other than removing/re-adding the service from the site once security is applied (don't want to have to reconfigure map tips, etc.), does anyone have any light to shed on this?

    Thanks

    Allen
