Is there a way to hide/remove the map layers tab from the home panel in GVH 2.3?

  In the GVH 2.5, you can disable the LayerDataContainerView in the Shells module. This will turn it off by default when the viewer loads, but you'll still be able to turn it on. If you want to remove it entirely, you can delete the entire view.
