Saving projects and the future of HTML5
Hello all,
I know there is a lot of development in bringing HTML5 up to par with the existing Silverlight viewer. Since the depreciation of Silverlight in Chrome and the focus now on HTML5, I looked over the application matrix between the two platforms and noticed there will be no developement in HTML5 for saving, sharing and opening project files. I assume this is a limitation of HTML5 versus the capabilities of Silverlight. We use Projects a LOT within our work environment and has me concerned regarding our future conversion to HTML5 as our main platform. Are there any plans to implement something similar for HTML5? I noticed in the Application Integration portion of the matrix the future ability to share URL and state via email. Is this something that could hopefully fullfill the project role from Silverlight?
Any insight would be appreciated!

We' re definitely going to be implementing support for saving, sharing, and loading projects. It's one of our most asked-about features for HTML5 and it's on the immediate roadmap. There aren't any significant technical barriers preventing us from doing this, and we'll look to offer an improved end-user experience based on valuable feedback we've got from partners and customers.

Thanks for the info Jason!
I guess I should have re-read the the matrix's begining statement that it isn't all inclusive and is a simple comparison between the two platforms.
Thanks again,

Hi,
could you please add me to the list. We need this function ASAP as well, given Silverlight is not supported by Chrome anymore and we're moving to HTML5.
regards,
Jack

I believe this is available in GVH 2.6 At least the icons are there in the tool bar, though in my case they are all grayed out - I'm assuming I have to enable them someplace...but when I look, it seems that it is not yet available? 0 -
Haven't spent much time on it yet, but I noticed that the project tools are enabled and working for our Windows authenticated sites, but not for our public sites. 0 -
Hi Mike and Chris,
By default, only signed-in user can create a new project and access the saved project. In manager, you can configure Data Store Polices to allow public read access the saved projects.
Cheers

I can't seem to get my Open/Save/Save As tools to become active, even though I have tried logging in via windows authentication and also via Geocortex Identity Server. They stay greyed out even when logged in and after I've made a few changes. Anyone else experience this? 0
