Buffer from a Drawing?

If I use the Drawing Tool to create something (such as a point, polygon, etc). Is it possible to somehow select this drawing and buffer from that drawing?

  Not that I know of. Is there a reason you can't just use the Buffer Shape option with the identify tools?

  I would like to buffer from a new point or drawing I have created using the drawing tools. Not an identifiable feature that is already in my map.

  What about using the Display Capture Geometry activity to make a new drawing, buffer it, and then run a selection to return underlying features?
