Basemap controller - configuration
Hi All,
Rookie Geocortex user - brand new and tryign to setup our first application. I would like to do some congfiguration to include basemaps and a basemap controller(basemap switcher) using the HTML5 viewer. Perhaps an easy question - how do I access the module to configure this controller and have it in my application? The admin and developer guide is vague on how to actually do this. Do I first have to include basemaps before I even publish my service (ArcGIS Desktop)? I feel like there is a straight forward anser out there that I have not found
Thought I could inlcude this (basemaps) ater the fact\ and while I was configuring the site.
Any direction on this is appreciated.
Regards,
Mike

You can use just about any map or image service for a basemap. If you're using an ArcGIS Online basmap, then you don't need to add it to an mxd; you can just add it through GE Manager.
The pivotal thing to do to use basemaps is to set your map service properties in GE manager. On the Functional tab, change the Function setting of your map service to Base Map, and if you want to add it to a base map group (if you don't have one yet, you can make a new one just by typing a new group name). Putting basemaps in groups lets you use the basemap slider capability in your GVH.
For more info, check out the admin guide for the GVH; there's a Basemap Module section that provides some detail on other config.
