Backing Up GE
Every Saturday we do a full backup of our Web Server that host Geocortex Essentials. It is a VM running Windows Server 2008 R2. However during that backup 80% of the time our VM does not restart automaitcally and as a result needs to be manullay started on Sunday .
We are looking for a lighterweight more efficient backup solution. Our intial thought is to create a VM clone and keep that handy. On a daily basis we would like to backup the critical configuration files through something like R-Sync for GE and the respective Geocortex applications so in the event of a failure we can reinstate the clone then copy over the latest GE files and be back up and running with minimal loss. HOWEVER what files are needed to be backed up? Also is this restoration method possibe?

Our Geocortex server has base image. In addition, we run (http://www.code42.com/crashplan/) Crashplan to create to additional backups of IIS and Geocortex Essentials (the only things that change). We have one copy that comes to our internal servers and a second copy to Crashplan's cloud backup. You can use the Crashplan software for free to backup to your servers, you pay for using their storage services.
