limit legend swatches in layer list to only whats visible

Is there a way to limit the legend swatches shown in the layer list to only whats visible in the map view extent?

  Jeff,

  For your reference, we are tracking this new feature as GVH-6031:  Configurable Option to Hide Layer List Legend Swatches for Invisible Layers. It is planned for development, and will likely land in a Q3 release in 2015. However, we can't give a solid date or release since we're still early in development.

  GVH-6031 is for the feature whereby legend swatches can be hidden for layers whose visibility is off. Jeff, is this what you're after, or are you looking for a mechanism whereby the viewer queries ArcGIS Server for each visible layer, to find out if there are any features in the current map extent?

  i think what folks are wanting is for only layers visible within the map extent to have legend swatches. so when you switch to the legend view, only the relevant layers for your map extent are listed.  Does that help?

  Jeff,

  Following is the description of GVH-6031 as we have it on our internal feature tracking database,

  "Supply a configuration option on the layer list module that enables behavior such that legend swatches will only display for visible layers. Visible layers are those that are visible according to the visibility checkbox, their visibility ancestry (parent layers must be visible too), and their scale range ."

  Hi Michael,

   

  I see it implemented in version 2.5 of the viewer with this note - 

   

  "there is now a "Show Swatches For Visible Layers Only" option under the Layer List menu in GVH's management pack "
