Can't establish service connection
I've installed ArcGIS Server 10.3.1 and Essentials 4.3.1 on a development server. I've configured Web Adaptor, made sure all the Geocortex components are installed and running. No matter what I do, I can't establish a service connection to ArcGIS Server (as a side note, it would be great if instead of just saying connection failed, it actually told the user what the issue was- i.e. incorrrect password, invalid server URL, etc). I've tried to connect with both token security and web tier anonymous with no luck. What can I be doing wrong? What else should I check?

Hi Rebecca,
If you click on the Connection Failed message, you should get further information in the right-hand panel of the Add Service window. Does anything appear there?

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. I can't click on the red text here:

Hi Rebecca,
You're right - I was thinking of the "Add Map Service" window that would appear behind this window. In that window, you can click on the Connection Failed to get an explanation, but there's more room to show it.
I thought that we would log the attempted requests in the Manager application log, but I just tried it here now and I don't see anything. Until we can address that, the quickest way to determine what Essentials is doing is to insert Fiddler as a proxy between Essentials Manager and the servers it tries to reach.
This article shows you how to do that: https://support.geocortex.com/use-fiddler-as-a-proxy
If you do configure Fiddler as a proxy, don't forget to remove the configuration once you've figured out what is happening! Otherwise, you will get strange connection errors when Essentials tries to use Fiddler later on, and it's not running.
