    Hi Heidi,

Can you confirm if your site has any type of security enabled? There is a known bug in the 2.5 HTML5 viewer where site security will prevent the Global Search from finding any results.

    Thanks,

Are you using layer themes? If so, delete them an redo them. I've had that problem in every version since 3.15.

Thank you Mike and Joshua for suggestions. I changed my authentication settings in IIS to Anonymous only, and also removed the Themes. The good news is that I was able to get Global Search to work! The bad news is that it will only work for a brand new map service added to my existing site. The map services and layers that I had set up in 4.3 are not showing as results in the search. I was really hoping to avoid setting up all the layers, fields, names, settings again just for this one feature!

Try creating one layer theme called "All Layers" and uncheck the check box "Allow All Layers". Have no other themes. Then give it a try.

I've had the exact same problem you are having. It usually happens after adding a new service to the map. It's not every time, but I've traced it down to the layer themes.

The security thing did not work for me. When is this known bug expected to be fixed?

I updated a layer this morning and now am unable to use the global search for any layer. Nothing I do fixes the issue. Typically I can get it back up and running with the layer theme trick but this time it's complely dead. Opening a support ticket.

Global search stopped working for the map service that is also having an issue with searching by using the query tool. I have reported the query tool issue to the Latitude earlier, and they told me there is a bug with secured services in v2.5. In any case both global search and query tool are not working for this particular map service. Hopefully they will be both fixed together in the next release.

Once again global search does not work... Worked fine for a few weeks. Made no changes to the maps and all of a sudden. Broken...

    Did anyone get this working?

Our global search also stopped working.

Upgrading to Essentials 4.4.3 and HTML5 2.5.2 did not help us.

    Thanks.

I'm at 4.4.3 and 2.5.2 and I've never had this issue...

I'm at GE 4.6.3 and GVH 2.7.2 and Global Search does not work on my handheld (Android).  Is there still a bug? The service is public and works fine in the desktop viewer.

It actually works fine in the handheld preview in Essentials.  And other services work fine, too.  It's just one of the services shows an error in the log for Layer Search Provider with status: 0

    Hi Dan,

It may be a latency issue when connecting from a handheld device.  Are you seeing the same thing when connected from WiFi that you are when you are using the device's data plan?

If you could watch the traffic with fiddler, that could help point you in the right direction.  Here are some instruction for iOS, although the process should be pretty similar for Android as well:

    http://docs.telerik.com/fiddler/Configure-Fiddler/Tasks/ConfigureForiOS

I hope this helps!  I know this is an old thread, but if you are still having these issues, please open a support case so we can assist you directly!

    Thanks,

    Danny

    Hi Daniel,

We are in GE 4.11 and GVH 2.12.1 and we are still struggling with this very frustrating issue.

It would be great if you provide suggestions to overcome this issue. Users are shouting!

    Hi Jamal,

There are no known issues with Global Search and the latest version of Essentials.  To investigate this further, please display the developer tools (F12) and the 'Network' tab.  Perform a global search and look for the request(s) being sent out.  The requests will be sent to ArcGIS server.  One or more requests are either returning an error or no results at all.  This will help determine where to look next.

    Regards,

    Wayne

Thank you Wayne for the input.

In the site below, please, try to search first for “zeita” and then “qaffin”. The global search will respond for the first value but, in most cases, it fails for the next ones

    Hi Jamal,

I received 3 results for the 1st query and 1 result for the second query, I couldn't get it to fail.

I wonder if it is an internal / external issue or maybe a browser issue?  I was using Chrome.

    Regards,

    Wayne

you are right Wayne. It appears to be a browser issue.

Firefox fails to respond for the next searched value while chrome manages to search correctly.

Interesting, in Firefox, look at the Network tab in the developer tools (F12).  You should see a query request to the map service.  Maybe Firefox uses the proxy page and Chrome doesn't.  There must be a difference, just need to find it!

    Hi Alaa,

It sounds similar to a bug fixed in version 4.12.  Version 4.12 is due to be released in the next week or so, can you please install it and try it?

    Regards,

Thank you Wayne for confirming that the “relate” issue is a bug. Our users were shouting as they need all the time to refresh in order to get the correct relate value. We will be waiting the 4.12 release patiently.

We're having an issue where Global Search won't return results for certain fields when all layers and fields are searchable.

Anything with letters or charachters seems to bring back a result.  Anything with just numbers comes up empty.  This seems to be going on in all sites with multiple services.

    Hi Scott,

I see this filed as a bug (Bug 14679) and it is still unresolved.  I have added you as a stakeholder.

    Regards,

    Wayne

    Thanks for your answer wayne.

I will try it as soon as it'll be available.

For your note. I tested this issue using both characters & numbers & it behaves the same on both cases and preview wrong related values for the next searched words/numbers.

    Best,

    Alaa
