loading shape files with file picker, how to verify input

Is there a way to verify that all the required files are selected in the file picker in forms. I know you can specify multiple files and specify the types for a shapefile, but i was wondering if there was a way to verify the user has entered the correct number of files ?(at least 3). I have tried the

"ends with" .shp$

"ends with" .dbf$

"ends with" .prj$

"ends with" .shx

what is happening is that even though all the shapefile types are listed, there is no test that a user will selected them all, at least within the form.

you can of course test for file count outsite the form, but i thought it would be cleaner inside the form.
