Save/Open Project HTML5 Viewer - Transition plan from Silverlight
I am having a difficult time finding information about the Save/Open Project functionality in the HTML5 viewer. I haven't upgraded to the latest release yet, so I don't know if it is in there. I am running 2.4 and it is not in there (as far as I can tell).
Is there any information on when this functionality will be available in the HTML 5 viewer? Also, is there any form of transition plan to move saved projects from the Silverlight viewer to the HTML 5 viewer. This feature is heavily used in my organization and I cannot complete my transition until it is available and the saved maps are accessible.

The HTML5 viewer does not have this functionality...yet. To my knowledge from their Road Ahead Webinars (there was one today and you can watch the one from September (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCVideo?sub-nav=videos&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_ARTICLE_DETAIL&dc=Geocortex_Essentials&criteria=BESTANSWERS&id=kA560000000Canv) here ) is the Save/Open Projects will be available in their 2.6 release of the HTML5 viewer. I can't speak to the other questions you've asked...Sorry! 0 -
Nelson,
Great, thank you. It will be added to the 2.6 release of the viewer expected in February or March 2016.0 -
So, I see the Save Project buttons but they don't work. I found something in the HTML Admin guide that says, "To use the Save and Save as tools, the user must be signed in to the viewer. If the user is not signed in, the Save and Save as tools are grayed out in the I Want To menu."
What? What if I don't want to have to deal with logins for all our intranet users of this application. I was excited that this was supposed to be added because this was one of the most requested items they are missing from the Silverlight viewer. I was really hoping this would just work like it did with Silverlight without further administrative headaches. Am I missing something? I will try to read further.
Thanks,

Yes, a big drawback in my book. I had not wanted to implement active directory, but now may have to... 0 -
We setup pass through authentication (often referred to as Single-Sign on) so the users were automatically signed in when the opened the application and the load/save project buttons were always lit up. We haven't really gotten into the saving of projects yet, and from what I read in the administrator guide GeoCortex has really built out the functionality of what you can do with a saved project and sharing with other people. 0 -
Keith,
How hard was it to setup pass through authentication?0 -
something maybe related, now the HTML5 2.6 is out, and the save project button is there. However, we have number of projects were originally in SV with large number of saved project. how could these project (or at least users' markup) could be transferred under HTML5 viewer? seems there's no easy solution from GE yet. 0 -
Hi Jack,
I'm sorry to say that the Silverlight projects and the projects in HTML5 are not compatible, and we will not be providing a method for using your Silverlight projects in the HTML5 viewer.
My apologies for the inconvenience!
Thanks,

Thanks Daniel for the advise. our main issues are to transfer the user markup's from SV projects to HTML5. It seems we have to write some script to extract the markup in the gsvp file, then a workflow to have users load the markup and save into a new project in HTML5. 0 -
I had made a comment earlier in this post.
I contacted technical support to see what I really had to do. I have only done this for our Test server (works) and our Live server is ONLY intranet, which might make things easier for us than others.
1- We were already configured our sign-in as Windows in the Post Install (not ArcGIS).
2- Then, I had to do the following per email from support:
" If you are using windows integrated then yes they should be able to just click "Sign In" and it will automatically sign users in using domain credentials. On the permissions page in Manager you could also disable anonymous access and give access to "Windows Integrated - all users" and this way your intranet users are automatically signed in whenever they load the viewer. " (initially, I had missed disabling anonymous
3- I still had problems and they sent me this link: https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCkba?sub-nav=kba&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_ARTICLE_DETAIL&criteria=BESTANSWERS&id=kA360000000CiWTCA0
Once I was able to make the above changes on my browser, everything worked. We will have to have IT alter the browser settings in users domain logon scripts but they are already doing similarly for another application. I have confidence it will work now.
Hope this helps someone.
