    Hello Karen and Lachlan,

Thank you for providing information on this issue. I'm looking into those steps to try and reproduce.

I did want to mention that in order to add private Portal for ArcGIS content, you must configure the Portal for ArcGIS sign-in method in the Post Installer, as noted in our documentation. You will not be able to access federated services through a service connection only.

    Thanks, Stefan

I was told by Alejandro that at the 4.2 release this was changed and that I won't be able to connect to those federated services like we were able to in 4.1.4. Thank you for your response Stefan.

We are currently working on another issue. We have our 4.4.2 instance configured in the Post Installer to our Portal for ArcGIS. We are able to see services and maps from our Portal but are not able to bring in a referenced map from the Portal. This has been recorded as a bug and will be resolved in the next release of Essentials.

Did you resolve this issue?  I am able to connect to the portal for arcgis but when I add map service in the site. error saying "this is private content.  End use will be required to enter user and password".  I don't want user to enter the user and pass again.  Is it possible to add the private content to the viewer without asking user and password?

    Hello Hwa,

I'm afraid it is not possible to add private content that your users can access without logging in.  Private content permissions are granted to named users, and if you don't sign in as a named user, you cannot access the content.

I hope this answers your question!

    Thanks,

    Danny
