Support Center maintenance period and improvements: December 2nd, 2015
We've been working on a number of improvements to the Community over the last few weeks. We'll be pushing them to the Support Center today, December 2nd, between 3:00 and 4:00 PM (PST).
The site will be up and fully functional during this period; however, you may briefly experience some disruption with your session if you're active during this time. If you're posting to the Community or Ideas, you may want to keep a copy of your post in a text editor, just in case your session is reset in the time between starting your post and submitting it.
Improvements: as part of this maintenance, we're adding:
- User names on Community posts now link to that user's profile page
- Default sort for Community posts is now "All Questions" -- this means that the Announcements category will no longer appear empty by default
- You can now sort Ideas by popularity or recent activity (either recently posted or recently commented-upon)
- A new (https://support.geocortex.com/downloads) downloads page with links to our product-specific Downloads pages -- links from existing documentation and the Geocortex Essentials post installation will no longer yield a 404 error
Known issues: We're currently working on:
- the ability to add attachments to Community posts
- a fix for the search results obscuring the item feed
I also want to extend a big thank you to all of our users who have submitted feedback -- both positive and... less positive (but constructive, nonetheless!) -- regarding their experiences on the Support Center. My highest priority is ensuring that the Geocortex Support Center gives you the best possible experience and helps you get the most from your Geocortex products, and I welcome feedback any time; please email me at (communities@geocortex.com) .

Excellent progress
Thanks for the support teams efforts with this

I noticed that the support site search doesn't perform like one would expect. For instance, search for "gzip". It returns zero results. This seemed unlikely, but I accepted it.
Using a different search term led me to https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCForum?sub-nav=forum&main-nav=essentials&#!/feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&id=906600000000AkrAAE which absolutely has the phrase "gzip" in the responses. It is a "Client Loading" post by Gareth Finney and a response by Jeff Siemens.
I have noticed a large number of common search phrases that turn up zero hits and most of the time I believe I can't be the only one with the problem or question that I have.
Any insight into this? Operator error?0 -
It's definitely not operator error, unless we're both doing something wrong, because I see the same thing. I'll forward this to the systems team and have them look under the hood. 0 -
Quick follow-up on the search issue, David:
The site search currently searches questions but not answers. This was a decision made for performance reasons (queries made through Salesforce's API are a bit of a bottleneck, in this case). I'm working with the team to see if we can somehow improve the performance of the search without omitting potential results.
In the meantime, the Community search will search both questions and answers. I hope that helps!0 -
Quick update:
We have fixed the issue with the "What would you like to know?" search results obscuring the item feed. The feed now moves down the page to accommodate the search results.
We're still hard at work on a custom solution that will allow you to attach files to Community posts.0
