Vector Tiles

I have read that the upcoming release of ArcGIS Server 10.4 will allow vector tile packages to be published as hosted vector tile layers.  If so, will Geocortex Essentials be able to display the vector tile layers?

  Hi John,

   

  We are definitely looking at including that functionality in a future version of Essentials, but that feature has not made it into a release yet.  Keep an eye on the releae notes to see when it gets added!

  The upcoming beta release of Geocortex Essentials 4.5 and GVH 2.6 will have support for vector tile services. However there are some caveats:

  • Web browser support for vector tiles is not universal so they aren't a good fit for most public facing applications yet.
  • Vector tiles do not offer any query capabilities so they aren't necessarily a replacement for traditional ArcGIS tiled map services.

  Just wondering if anyone has used Essentials 4.5 and GVH 2.6 and can tell me what browsers currently support viewing vector tile services.  I imagine the majority of people will use either IE, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser.  Any experience with using vector tile services on these?
