Global Search for Point

    Hi Jeff!

Zooming to lines and polygons is easy, because they have an extent we can work with. Points are a little trickier, because without a scale, we have to make an educated guess as to what's appropriate, or just pan to it and leave the scale as-is. To take the guesswork out, you can configure a Feature Zoom Scale for a given map layer. This way, when a feature from this layer is selected from, say, search results, we know exactly what scale to jump to.

You can configure the Feature Zoom Scale in Manager when you edit a map layer (the field can be found on the Details tab). You can find more information in the Essentials Administrator Guide in the section on "Layer Settings" (specifically, in the "Layer Details Tab" section within the "Layer Settings" section).

    Hope that helps!

    Jordan,

Thanks for the prompt response.  I figured it was going to be a setting somewhere but that was too easy.  I feel foolish for not figuring that out on my own.  Thanks again.  Cheers!

    Jordan,

What about configuring the zoom scale for an address geocoding result found via Global Search? It appears to zoom to a default scale and I have been unable to find where that might be changed. Can you enlighten us regarding where or how that can be changed?

    Brain,

Did you ever figure this out?

    Thanks!

I have set the Feature Zoom for the layer, but when the Global Search returns one value it does not zoom automatically to the feature, the map stays at the same extent and the user has to manually zoom.  Where is the setting to make the Global Search zoom to selected results?
