Base Map with override scale prints when not visible
Hi all,
I am running e4.5 and HTML5 2.6.
I have several external base maps that I have added an 'Override Maximum Scale' to in manager.
When I print at a scale that doesn't show the base map on screen (base map is grayed out, but clicked on) it is visible in the pdf.
It is not a case of the scale adjusting for the print out and enabling the base map. The print out is clearly at a scale where the base map is grayed out.
Bug???

Hi Dave,
I think the techie answer is that WPF (Server) and Silverlight support image extrapolation at unsupported scales. GVH is limited by the Esri API in this regard and it cannot dynamically stretch the closest scale imagery to work. I'm not sure that the Override settings do in the HTML5 viewer what they did in Silverlight. I think that the Override scales you set in REST Manager are being respected on the server when a print is performed, but not on the client when map viewing. This is most likely the cause of the discrepancy. If you remove the override, does the issue resolve?
This may be unsavoury behaviour when printing from GVH as the print no longer reflects the map.
I'll follow up and see if this is a bug or not.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for that.
I can remove the override but then I cannot replicate that problem.
The problem is when the override is on and the base map is still clicked on. Grayed out and clicked on.
If I remove the override and the base map is off, everything prints as it should. No base map.
If I remove the override and the base map in on, the base map prints as it should.
Make sense?
Thanks,Dave

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for looking into this for me.
I have a test site if it helps. Test (http://gis.rvca.ca/Html5/index.html?viewer=test.test)
I have added a 1:40,000 'Override Maximum Scale' to the top layer and it displays as it should, shutting itself off at 1:36,112.
But printing at that scale or any scale larger will result in the top layer showing up in the printout.
Cheers,Dave

So, I've run into some similar issues. A basic point here is that print and view are two different things. HTML5 will only view at the cached scales. Can't view inbetween or beyond cached scales. Print is using a different function. Bypassing HTML5 altogether. It is using the ESRI Export Map function (see bottom of REST endpoint) instead, which will be looking at whatever settings you have in AGS. 0 -
Hi Dave,
I'm going to email you with a suggested fix. If anyone else on the forums encounters this issue please send an email to support and reference this thread and GE-7780.
Cheers,

Thanks Kevin,
I should note that everything worked as is at e4.4 gvh2.50 -
Can the fix be posted here? 0 -
Hi Nico,
The fix is something that should be applied with the assistance of a support analyst, to determine if the issue is in fact due to the same root cause and to ensure that it is applied correctly. Please contact support for more information.
Thanks,
Aaron Oxley0
