Add Buffer to Markup - Is there a way to do this in HTML5?

It is hard to understand how this did not make it into 2.6...  Whenever we do mail labels, we need to print out a map to show what parcels were included.  Currently, the buffer dissappears any time you do anything in the browser after it was created...this REALLY doesn't work for us...

This is really the only complaint about the HTML5 maps I get and it drives my clients crazy.  How crazy?  They insist on bringing back the Silverlight versions of my maps until it's fixed and want nothing to do with the HTML5 version.  It is a massive inconvenience and slows their work down.   I get this complaint constantly.

Keeping things highlighted, whether using the identify tools or executing a buffer, is a **HUGE** issue for the people who use our web maps.  Our clients deal with multiple parcel tracts and must keep things highlighted in order to do Title and Abstract work.  They insist on GeoCortex bringing back the "star" next to the record in the Results (like in Silverlight) where you can click it and keep them highlighted whether they identified the items on their own or identified them as a result of a buffer.

You also used to be able to right click an individual record in the results and perform a buffer.  Right-clicking a record does nothing now.

Surely this practical function is at the top of the list of enhancements?

    Hello Bronson, Mike, and John

This improvement is in the queue, but I'm not sure yet when it will be added to the viewer.  You have all been added as stakeholders to the improvement, and your comments have been quoted so that the development team can see that this is an important feature for you.

The tracking number for the improvement is GVH-6090.

    Thanks!

Could I also be added as stakeholder?  We have lots of users that have complained about this.

Count me in on this one, too, please. It's been a feature my users have been pounding on me about. Way too many "all of our previous mappig systems have done this".

Anyone have any temporary work arounds?

We've solved this through a workflow prompt of the user to see if they want the buffer and highlighted parcels to persist. If yes, then it's available for printing. http://prd.waukcogeo.com/Html5Viewer/?viewer=html_viewer_ext (http://prd.waukcogeo.com/Html5Viewer/?viewer=html_viewer_ext)  (Buffering tools)

James, any chance I could get some of your bufforing workflows?  Also, how do you turn off a buffer once it is there?

    Hi,

We had the same issue,. We added the buffer (graphicset) to the Graphics layer (update graphics layer).that then can be printed also.

I finally had LG create a workflow that takes care of this and other issues.  They  loaded it to the code gallery on 7/6/16 and it is called something like Mail Label Workflow (original or what!?).  It allows for a very complex selection process.  It allows the user to change the color and transparency of selected parcels and the buffer.  Once it is done, and the buffer and sellected parcels stick around for download and/or map printing.  Not germain to this discussion, but it also allows the user to pick from a list of available labels, or multiple labels (absentee owner from parcel layer and occupant from our address layer) and gives the user to create a map as well.  It is on the I want to... menu on this site if you would like to see it in action:
